ESRI ArcGIS Pro 2.8/ 2.9 Installation Instructions

For users who are updating from ArcGIS Pro 2.7 to 2.8 or 2.9, please note that ESRI has changed the license authorization process. To download the 2.9 executable file look for the download link in your WebStore Order History. Also, please note,  you must also login to your ArcGIS account prior to activating the license.

1.    To use ArcGIS Pro 2.8 or 2.9, an activated ArcGIS Online account is required. The following ArcGIS online resources require you to sign in through the University of Illinois ArcGIS Online Organization portal.

2.    Open a browser tab and go to the link above.  https://univofillinois.maps.arcgis.com

 

 

 

3.    Click the Sign In link on the upper right side of the page.  Click to the blue University of Illinois button to select the Enterprise login.

4.    At the top of the page, click your username and click My settings.

 

 

5.    Your user type, role, and assigned licenses are listed. You will see the ArcGIS Pro extensions listed. The download link for ArcGIS Pro is no longer available through your account, so please continue your install and activation process by downloading the app from your WebStore Order History for ArcGIS Pro 2.9.

 

 

 

6.    Go to your Webstore Order history at webstore.illinois.edu on the left menu bar and click on your ArcGIS Pro order. Next to ArcGIS Pro 2.9 Application, click Download.

In the Download window, review the Language setting. Change the setting to the language you want.  Click Download again.

 

7.    An executable file (.exe) is downloaded to your computer.

 

 

8.    Double click the installation file to begin.

9.    Choose the destination folder.  WebStore recommends you keep this option default for ease of support. The default destination folder is <System Drive>\Users\<username>\Documents\ArcGIS Pro <version>.

 

 

10. After the setup wizard has unpacked the files, a new window will open. Launch the setup program should be checked. Click Close.

 

 

11. Click Next.

 

 

12. Exit your Windows programs and click Next to continue the setup.

 

13. Choose, I accept the master agreement.

14. Click Next.

 

 

15.  Click Next.

 

 

16.  Choose whether to participate in the ESRI User Experience. Click next.

 

 

17. The installation will proceed.

 

 

18.  ArcGIS Pro is now installed. Click Finish to launch the application.

 

 

19.  An ArcGIS Online account is required to license the software. Your ArcGIS Enterprise account is created the first time you sign into the University’s ArcGIS Online site. If you have never signed into the University’s ArcGIS Online site, please do so now before attempting this step. Browse to https://univofillinois.maps.arcgis.com, click Sign In and choose University of Illinois.

20. To proceed set the ArcGIS organization URL, click the down arrow in the field below.

21. Enter ‘univofillinois’ and click the box next to Remember the URL.  Click Continue.

22.  You should see the screen below.  Click on the University of Illinois.

23.  Select the appropriate Campus.  You will be redirected to your campus login page.  Use your NetID and password

24. Once logged into ArcGIS Pro you may get prompted to update.  Please install any available updates or install the most current Patch from your WebStore order history.
